the transport consulting practice is involved in a range of development, strategy and infrastructure projects for public and private sector clients. these include significant and high profile projects which require a broad range of skills and the ability to deliver quality work within a fast-moving and deadline-driven environment. the role is focusing on transport and traffic engineering technical support to the transport consulting group in our shenzhen office.

job content:

1.providing analytical and draughting support across a range of different business portfolios, including projects related to new development, local transport and public transport.

2. providing support to projects involving preliminary highway design, public transport interchanges, bus infrastructure and cycling and walking schemes.

3. participation in design development on projects

4. preparation of drawings using autocad and related software

5. providing technical analysis as part of project teams (for example, local junction modelling, cycle and walking audits)

6. responsibility for ensuring that drawings comply with corporate and project standards

7. responsibility for ensuring that relevant software is maintained up to date

8. responsibility for ensuring that knowledge of current design standards is maintained and disseminated within the group

job requirements:

the ideal candidate should have a background of experience in the transport planning and engineering sector, preferably including traffic and highway engineering.

the group uses autocad as standard but knowledge of microstation is needed to interface with other disciplines and consultants.

skills required include:

- relevant experience in the advanced use of autocad

- relevant experience experience using autotrack

- experience in the use of keysign, keylines and keyaccident

- working knowledge of microstation.

- thorough knowledge of relevant highway design guides and standards (including design manual for roads and bridges, traffic signs regulations and general directions, traffic signs manual)

- working knowledge of car park design guidance (istructe and other guidance)

- working knowledge of designing for goods vehicles and servicing, including service yard and loading bay design.

- experience of design of bus and cycling infrastructure would be helpful.

- knowledge or interest in the use of gis, junction capacity analysis software & road safety would also be of benefit.

- excellent communication skills and fluency in english language skills, both verbal and written
